Martindale-Hubbell® is an independent lawyer rating service. The organization has been evaluating lawyers for more than 130 years. American Board of Trial Advocates

Organized in 1957, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) is an organization with the primary purpose of maintaining the civil jury trial system, which is referred to as "Justice by the People." Mr. Shomo was inducted into ABOTA in the year of 2010. ABOTA members are attorneys who have demonstrated civility, integrity and skill, who serve as a valuable examples for helping younger attorneys become better trial advocates. These attorneys are called to help educate the general public about the Seventh Amendment's crucial role in society. The organization follows the belief of Thomas Jefferson, who placed the right to a jury of fellow citizens at highest value and greatest need for protection, even more so than the right to vote. ABOTA aims to help improve ethical and technical practice standards in the area of advocacy in order to ensure that justice is properly being served.
